Happy Tuesday! Today, we continued working to machine the different components that will eventually be the second deer stand. Jim and Marshall (from the Bingham Shop) helped up to ready the plate legs. We had to first turn the aluminum to true the two edges and trim the entire piece down to the right length. Then, Marshall used the CNC machine to cut the 1/2" slot to the top of each piece. Then, Matt and I were able to take over to drill and tap the hole through the slot and finally machine off the 30def angle at the top. I find it funny that in SolidWorks you can build such a piece in about 20 minutes... but to machine the pieces literally took us three days. I can start to see why floor machinists don't always get along with the engineers. See you tomorrow! |
